Write what you know? Absolutely. Then you don’t have to make anything up…

Although how many times have you wanted to write about something that really did happen and thought: ‘I can’t write that, no-one would believe it…’

-- Joe

Displacement! That should've been the title. It's certainly the theme. And I guess we all have our little dalliances with fun things that don't require much thought...

Glad you liked the story, chief. Hope you're very well indeed!

-- Edd

Have you evolved?

-- Sam

I have a commission in for Monday, too. Halfway there. Not really worrying too much. Till Sunday, when I'll explode or something.

Vaccination is exactly like levelling up.

Displacement.
That’s what that is. I wrote a story about it once. It had a lot of spaces on the page. The publisher wanted 1,500 words. He didn’t think 1 was enough.
Even if it was a good one and proved the point.

I know what you mean about working hard on something and then hating it. That's when I start revising like crazy.

(Came from Twitter).
People often ask me what it takes to get published and my first response is to say that you just have to get on and do it. There's not much difference between most published and unpublished writers in terms of talent, as one commenter said. Many people want to "have written" a book, but don't realize the work involved, both before and after the book is out. When you get rejected, you have to think hard about what that person said (if you're lucky enough to get feedback), take it on board and keep going.
Having said all that, it's important to remember that published writers were all unpublished at one point and there is hope for everyone.
